Red-eared Slider Gallery

Red-eared slider in captivity at Alligator Adventure in South Carolina
Sliders
Popular as pets until their owners realize they won't come when called, red-eared sliders have been introduced not just around the United States but around the world. The first time that I saw them in the "wild" was in Tokyo, which like the raccoon is a transplant from North America.

This particular turtle was photographed in South Carolina where sliders are natives. However this one wasn't in the wild but at Alligator Adventure, where the sliders live alongside some of the gators.
