Scenery in Mount Rainier National Park

Waterfall beside a glacier in Mount Rainier National Park
Tall Snow
Unfortunately there isn’t much in the picture to give a sense of just how tall this glacier is, but I do like the rings of the advancing snow and the tall waterfall at the base of the glacier.

I cloned out the yeti that was bathing at the base of the falls because you never know who might be watching …

A natural snow cave left by the melting snow on the Skyline Trail in Mount Rainier National Park
Snow Cave
Even in the early fall, some snow lingers near the higher sections of the Skyline Trail. The melting snow left a natural snow cave, at this mixed elevation it could be used by a family of either yeti or sasquatch.

Mount Rainier from the National Park Inn
Mount Rainier late in the day. A bank of clouds rolled in shortly after and ruined an attempt at a sunset shot of the mountain. I didn’t have to hike back far after the sun set — the picture was taken in front of the National Park Inn where we were staying, I had stepped outside to enjoy the scenery after dinner.

The American flag flies at half mast on a foggy morning at Mount Rainier National Park to mark the passing of former President Ronald Reagan
Half Mast
On this morning all but the tallest peaks were shrouded in fog. The American flag was flying at half mast out of respect for President Reagan, who had recently passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
